Every year we aim to support our fellow area residents by volunteering and fundraising for local community organizations and their events.
Special Olympics of Vermont’s Penguin Plunge
The Special Olympics Vermont Penguin Plunge event series supports a movement that works year-round to foster inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) by using the power of sport to showcase their gifts and abilities.
In an effort to help support Special Olympics of Vermont, Burlington Rugby spent months focusing their efforts on fundraising. All this culminated in BRFC raising $14,515 which brought the grand total to $675,000, our members then once again braved the waters of Lake Champlain at Burlington’s waterfront.

Dragonheart Vermont’s Dragonboat Race Festival
The Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival is a community dragon boat festival held along Burlington’s Waterfront on Lake Champlain. Hosted by Dragonheart Vermont, the festival aims to support cancer survivors in our community.
For the past few years, BRFC members have volunteered to help man the docks; helping guide crews in and out of the docks, bailing extra water out and helping crew members into and out of boats.
